The University of Tor Vergata is the second larger University of Rome. There are more than 40.000 students and about 1.400 teachers at full time. It comprises 6 Faculties and manages about 200 Masters.
The University is especially devoted to the international cooperation and to the development of SMEs, with which has several kinds of participation, like spin-off, start-up, liaison projects, and other. The Engineering Faculty has about 10.000 students and offers 23 kinds of degrees. The Enterprise Engineering Department, to which the FTA Laboratories directed by the proponent, and other researcher belong, carries out a lot of international and territorial contracts of research, and is particularly devoted to interdisciplinary scientific activities. Among these, the Department of Enterprise Engineering has been contractor of research for the Italian Navy submarines long-term inner comfort and health, and for plants safety and restart of several underground Governmental Structures and Laboratories. Present research topics related to the present application are in the field of building energy management and savings, of thermal and PV solar systems, of climatic data acquisition and simulation, of severe inner environmental comfort and safety items.
The Department is presently involved in the applied research program of the CHOSE established in 2006. To the department belongs the management of the Graduation Courses on Environmental and Territorial Engineering and on Energy Engineering. The proponent his coordinator of the Doctorate DIFE on Energy Sources Engineering.
